Preventative medicine is our goal at Family Pet Animal
Hospital. An annual physical examination is the most important service
we provide for your pet. It’s not just “time for Fido and
Princess to get their shots”! A complete exam enables us to pick
up on medical problems early, for example, heart murmurs, periodontal
disease, abdominal masses, or hormonal imbalances. We take this opportunity
to ask questions about how your pet has been doing at home as well as
to discuss any concerns you may have. Remember, our pets’ life spans
are shorter than ours – One veterinary exam per year for them can
be compared to one doctor’s exam every several years for us.
We take our client education very seriously. The annual
exam is the best opportunity we have to update you on the most current
concepts in veterinary medicine. We have a full library of handouts available
so please ask us for information on topics like geriatric care, pain management,
nutrition and exercise, obesity management, behavior problems, dental
care, Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Viruses (AIDS), heartworm
disease, and parasite control. Vaccination recommendations are changing
every year and are important for you to understand. Your education is
the most important step in helping your pet achieve a high quality, long
and healthy life. We appreciate your attention!
