About Family Pet

At Family Pet Animal Hospital, we understand how significant your pet is to your life! We promote preventative medicine and wellness for pets of all ages. We are a full-service facility, offering routine as well as specialty medical care, laboratory services, radiology, surgery, dentistry, ultrasound, endoscopy, and an entire pharmacy of prescription drugs and foods.

Family Pet Animal Hospital was founded in April of 1990 by Drs. Rae Ann Van Pelt and Marla Minuskin. Our goal was to establish a facility that provided the highest quality diagnostic and medical care along with up to date client education. Dr Minuskin retired in 2008, and Dr Jane Lohmar became a partner in 2011 after having worked at Family Pet since 1997.

Since 1991, Family Pet Animal Hospital has voluntarily achieved the high standards of the American Animal Hospital Association, qualifying us as an AAHA Accredited Hospital Member. These standards pertain to facilities, equipment, practice methods, and management. We achieved and continue to maintain this accreditation by committing ourselves to outstanding quality of medicine, diagnostics and patient care.

We are extremely proud of our Family Pet staff members. Our doctors are required to attend twice the minimum state requirements for continuing education. We send our reception and technical staff for continuing education, as well as provide in-house seminars. Some would say we are overstaffed at Family Pet because we employ four assistants for every doctor. We feel it is important for that many people to watch, listen, and care for your pet and be free to help you at our front desk. Our staff is trained to relay information between you and your doctor in order to facilitate communication quickly and conveniently. We rely on them continually for patient updates, whether your pet is at home or in our hospital.

We created Family Pet Animal Hospital to provide this level of care because our clients and patients deserve it. If you ever have any questions about our capabilities, please ask!
